Welcome to the Strong in Jesus Foundation

At the Strong in Jesus Foundation, we believe that faith, love, and community have the power to change lives.

Our mission is simple: to bring hope, provide meaningful support, and help build a stronger, brighter future for families in Peru.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Peruvian communities in need by connecting people with the essential resources they need to thrive. Through generous donations and community support, we provide clothing, food, wheelchairs, clean water, and so much more to families across Peru.

A Legacy of Love

The Strong in Jesus Foundation was inspired by Thomas Kawal, the beloved husband of Sonia Kawal and father of Nicole Sunshine Kawal.

Thomas had a heart for giving back and a deep love for Peru, a country especially close to the hearts of Sonia and Nicole, who were both born there. He believed in helping others and making a difference wherever he could.

In January 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, Thomas passed away. Even through his most difficult moments, he never lost his faith. He continued to praise God and hold onto his faith until the very end.

Thomas’s strength, kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to helping others inspired the creation of this foundation.

One of Thomas’s greatest wishes was for his family to continue his legacy of compassion and service. Today, Sonia and Nicole honor his life by carrying that dream forward through the Strong in Jesus Foundation.

What began with Thomas’s heart for helping others now lives on through a family dedicated to carrying his legacy of love, compassion, and service forward.
