Who we are

Welcome to the Strong in Jesus Foundation!

We are a registered non-profit organization organized exclusively for charitable purposes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our mission is to empower Peruvian communities in need by providing essential resources such as clothing, food, wheelchairs, clean water, and more. We are committed to building a stronger, brighter future for families in Peru — and your support makes this possible.

The Strong in Jesus Foundation was inspired by Thomas Kawal, beloved husband of Sonia Kawal and father of Nicole Sunshine Kawal. Thomas was deeply passionate about giving back, especially to Peru — a country close to the hearts of Sonia and Nicole, who were both born there. After a courageous battle with cancer, Thomas passed away in January 2025, yet he never lost his faith and continued to praise God until the very end. His unwavering strength, kindness, and devotion to helping others became the foundation of this organization.

Thomas’s dream was for his family to continue his legacy of compassion and service. Through the Strong in Jesus Foundation, Sonia and Nicole honor his life and carry forward his mission — to bring hope, love, and tangible support to those in need.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, donations to the Strong in Jesus Foundation are tax-exempt, meaning contributors are eligible for tax deductions based on their donations. We are dedicated to transparency and accountability; all donors receive official receipts for their contributions, which can be used for tax purposes. At the end of each year, we also provide comprehensive statements to assist with tax filings.
